Right... for the record, he thinks he blackmailed me into dropping it, but it's not true. I don't care what he has to say, even if he screams it to everyone, bell or weed.
Just be careful. That eye is going to open someday. A blood-feud fight to the death with Lily, or the whole pasture, wouldn't be wise.
...Okay, I may have triggered things. I went and ordered a drink of "betrayal." I just wanted to freak him out a bit. Remind Honey that he's a coward.
What I got back was a glass with a whole lot of words written on it that showed the Shepherd knew some very intimate personal details about the worst moments of my life. I guess that's what he meant by "I visited your dreams."
So, I tried to contact him and manipulate him a bit with a cube. That we just 'have' to punish Honey, as a matter of pride, so just stand back and let it happen, and everything will be over. --I thought it was worth a try.
Well, he goes all "Papa Bear" over me, and spends like ten minutes wasting oxygen about how Lethe is his responsibility, how glad I should be that he was blackmailing me instead of just telling people my secrets, and equating me with Patches for the crime of... sitting there, I guess.
[sighs]
He did let slip something interesting: apparently Honey's collar turned into a belled one on its own. As in: he didn't make a choice to actually stop being a weed. I have no way of knowing if that's true, since this talk was via cube, but it's interesting if it is true. --But, it doesn't matter. He's still betrayed us by blabbing all of our secrets and trying to blackmail you.
In the end, the shepherd draws a line in the sand and I decide I've done all I can. "I won't try to get revenge on Lethe." --I'm one hundred percent sure he lost the meaning that promise would lead to someone else wanting the job.
Hey! Mr. Sss Sss thinks I'm doing a great job. Or at least I haven't heard any complaints that I need to refocus my attention. He's given me a few rewards.
I'm trying to give the Snake a friendly face. We're not going to get anywhere if they're always united in their hatred of him, and us.
--I've got a fact that should do just that. The best part is, it's probably true.
The reason they all hate the Snake is because he lied to them, killed some of them, stole power from Death, and got them all tortured for a while. The only people who don't know about it are the newbies who show up after. And... let's be honest. That includes us. I had to learn it from the bells, too. Mr. Sss Sss wasn't about to tell any of us the details of that either.
But, there's a detail I think everyone has missed: when the Snake first bound Death, it made a bunch of lost souls Death was carrying get set free. Some of them even vanished into nothing.
...So...
Where did those souls come from?
The Snake said he honestly didn't know. In fact, some of them may be from rituals Blossom botched, or souls that 'didn't make it' here to the pasture when she summoned the bells that are here now.
If the Snake is right... then Blossom is objectively the real evil, no matter what the Snake has done. She's either bringing people here over and over to die, or killed off a lot of other people who were here to start with.
Well, we're probably not going to get it from the sheep herself. Maybe Red...? He has said he deals in information as well as physical things.
But one thing's for sure. Whether they stay bells or not, getting people to shift their animosity toward her is for the best. Too many of them think they'll just ignore her until she does something weird.

[ And then, she crosses her arms. ]
That's fine. In fact, you should let it go — for now. They're expecting it, after all. We need to think bigger — much, much bigger.

There are five other flocks. Four others, since I know you have a soft spot for Thistle. Perhaps turn your focus to them. Clover seems interesting.
