I've been exchanging information I gathered at my ritual with Red for information of his own. That's how I've learned some of the things I know, and I've verified them independently. While Red is shady, what he has to say always has some veracity behind it.
At the tail end of our exchange, he told me this: "your little snake's fighting something that doesn't even exist."
Your Name, think about it. She hops from one vessel to another with ease. She exists, but does she really? What do we really know about her? Even the Snake seems unaware.
And I'm not about to have him be made to look like a fool.
...Yes, I'll admit that does seem the case. I've come to similar conclusions. He sort of came here with a bad impression and then ran with it. The idea that the sheep don't want to be sheep and would rather just go home than help Blossom seemed like a surprise to him.
Though, hm... would it interest you to know what I have in my possession?
A complete document accounting for when the sheep went into the mist, what they encountered, their personal analysis, threat levels, what they did to prepare, what they did to inoculate themselves against the werewolf curses, and...
Their meeting with the Wolf King. Including an artistic depiction of him.
Yes. That's the rub, isn't it? I promised I would show only the Snake... per my agreement with Zenith, Clover's Shepherd. Also known as the: "I will kill you," guy.
But... maybe I could persuade him it would be in his interests if you were to know, too.
I can't do it, Faith. If I so blatantly use that sort of loophole, especially with someone as vindictive as Clover's shepherd, it's gonna spread that I'm taking them all for idiots. I need them to believe in me just enough to give me the time of day.
Heck, even telling you I have the document is just a little bit of a betrayal already, though of course it was only "not show it to anyone else."
Give me a day or two. Clover's Shepherd can be manipulated. If I can convince him you would know more than the Snake, and that you're unlikely to be a threat, I can give it to you. --Especially if you're willing to let me let it slip that I know you ask Red 'things'.
And about the Snake, you know... sometimes people need to believe in things that just obviously aren't true. They need it to keep their emotional state grounded in the face of absolute horror. For example, the Snake's reaction to exactly what the Wolf King portrait depicted, and how his immediate jump was: "Well, he's still benevolent, he's obviously just been twisted by Blossom."
But if Blossom doesn't exist, then that's like removing a domino in a long stack he's set up.
And that's why I asked you to swear not to say anything to him yet.
What we need to do is look into this further. He told me he should be summoning more like us soon. If we can trust them to assist us, all the better. Our priority right now, beyond continuing our main mission of sowing discord in the pasture, should be gathering information so that we can give the Snake the truth.
Right. We can't crush his feelings. We also have to get this right. 'Blossom' might not exist, but maybe someone is using an 'illusion' of a Blossom who once existed? Like everyone claiming "I am Spartacus," or some such thing.
Ah. These Sheep are really lost without us, aren't they? It's kinda amazing, too. If Weeds like Edgelord and poison-girl weren't willing to go with them into the mist, they wouldn't have found out any of this.
For the record, I may have to work on pushing the mist back since it's dangerous to us. The Snake is aware of this and it has his full support, since our mission is the top priority. And we can't complete the mission if we're dead.

It isn't your fault if you left your room to tend to some things and I just so happened to sneak in through a portal to look, is it?
